So Blizzard removes temporary weapon enhancements (oils & stones) because according to them it takes away the uniqueness of certain classes.

Sharpening Stones and also Wizard Oils have been discontinued. While they were something nice to use once in a while for most people for many raid guilds they were simply another burden to the cost of raiding. They also caused some issues in that they only helped certain classes and took away some of the uniqueness of other classes who were able to imbue their weapons with temporary enchants such as rogues and warlocks.

Only to give leatherworkers the ability to give Blessing Of Kings (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=49633) and Mark Of The Wild (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=49634)? All i got to say is LOL.

I think you're missing the point of these items...

Blizzard implemented these because they are crucial tanking buffs that are unique to certain classes. Sharpening stones / mana oils could be bought from the AH, and brought to a raid. These buff items can be bought from the AH, and brought to a raid. Good luck buying a (Druid / Paladin / Priest; choose whichever your 10m run is lacking) off the AH and using it when you buff up during said raid.

I had the same surprise you did. I did a little research and found that in Cata there is a new Drums of the BURNING Wild which carries over the essential functionality of the old version of Drums of the Wild (i.e. a buff similar to the Druid buff Gift of the Wild) but which now requires you to reach the Cata level-cap of 85 before you can use them.

I had the same surprise you did. I did a little research and found that in Cata...

You missed the point of his post. Requires 80, but does not work on 80. If it really works like that, that's broken, because it can't work like that...or something. Likely a tooltip error and will also likely be changed to say "81 or higher"

Eli you missed the point as well, it doesn't matter when you max your profession by as this is usable by ANYONE not a profession restricted item.

It is ONLY usable by level 80 toons, but does NOT affect anyone at 80 or above i.e it works on NO ONE unless you are grouped with someone below 80. A horrible oversight and screw up by Blizz....but hey they aren't exactly known for great choices with expansion patches are they.

Yep, i did the same thoughts this morning. I discover i can use it, but it doesn't affect me because i'm lvl 80.

The only use i can figure out is boosting some players under lvl 80 with your mighty lvl 80.

That sounds crazy :D

As I said, they work sometimes. I've only tried them on my hunter, but they did at times idd heal and 2 in raid did get mana from them, but no buff icon on screen.

There is an animation on toons and it is pretty if you like that kinda thing :)

If they had worked 100%, this would be really nice for raids pre-Cata', they even work multiple times in battle, no CD like on potions, potions are 1 pr battle(+1 if you pre-pot).

So imagine adding these to your macros if they had worked 100% :)

I'm guessing its a bug, like many others after 4.0.1, like Elixir of Sages gave rogues 180 energy.

Question is, why are they so damn expensive now on wowhead? I think its cuz they can work, ppl know this and therfore the price increase.

Sounds good for boosting though, lvl 80 to use but cannot affect 80 and over.

That is if the EFFECT doesn't require lvl 80 too, only the use of the drums.

They now require level 70 to use, so they make a bit more sense. Handy for leveling I suppose.

Incidentally, the reason these drums were changed is because Mark of the Wild and Blessing of Kings are now the same buff and no longer stack, so they had to get rid of one of the drum types. Although why didn't just remove these or converted them to Drums of Forgotten Kings is beyond me.
