You need Ominous Conch to summon the Lunkers and then you can use your Iskaaran Harpoon to get them out of water and loot them.

You'll need to use a stack of 5 Ominous Conch in order to summon each lunker.

My first lunker gave me 2 x Lunker Morsel, so I only had to summon 2 lunkers.

My second lunker dropped Untapped Forbidden Knowledge in addition to the Lunker Morsel and vendor trash.

What's worse than flying across the whole continent to hand in "Story of a Memorable Victory"? This. You need to fly to and back to craft those harpoons.

I don't know how to solo this because with my harpoon I can't pull the giant threshers on land on my own and if i try to attack them they run away.
Sometimes other players will simply attack the treshers i have harpooned and manage to loot them and i can't even tag them because they're too far away.
People really do not care about the cumbersome harpooning mechanics and we who do are just tools for those too lazy to even make their own harpoon.

This quest is absolutely ripe for trolling.

As stated elsewhere, you need to use the Ominous Conch to summon lunkers. In theory you are then meant to harpoon them in.

In reality you have people who either don't know or don't care about this process, and who'll just attack & kill your lunkers.

Summoning & harpooning them does not count for loot credit unless you also attack them, and they can be killed quite rapidly by third party attacks which leaves you out of pocket for conches & with no quest progress. With high damage attacks the summoned Lunkers can be killed within a second or two.

I would strongly suggest not doing this quest if there are other players standing around the summoning point, unless you see them actively harpooning things when you arrive.

I'm seeing a lot of people complain about a pretty unremarkable quest because they seem to have the wrong on idea on how you do it.

You do NOT need to use conches to summon a lunker. You can simply fish and spawn one naturally. It took me maybe 10 minutes of fishing to spawn all 3 lunkers I needed for the quest.
You do NOT need to harpoon the lunker, but you DO need Dragonflight Fishing learned to loot the morsels. After it spawns, you can jump into the water and kill it and you will still get the morsel. With such easy access to 385/395 gear, there is honestly no reason you shouldn't be able to kill a lunker before it gets away. Even as a healer or tank.
If there is someone else there, join a group with them! Even if one of you doesn't manage to tag the lunker by the time the other jumps in and kills it, you will still get the morsel! If you're not in a group with someone, just use an instant attack on it. There's no reason to attempt to harpoon them. You get nothing out of it, and it honestly takes longer than just jumping in and killing it.

It's not an amazing quest but it's also not annoying. It just simply exists.

Unless you are swimming in Ominous Conchs , this quest is a waste of time, don't bother.

Kind of a silly quest considering it's designed for alt catchup, but in order to do it requires you to go level fishing to 25 to build the harpoon and then get conchs.

I did not need a harpoon for this to work using a conch. Got credit from my summon and another person tagged. The thresher does try to swim away so be ready to cc and burst it down.

If you should need the Ominous Counches, cuz you were late to the party and trying to do this quest you can get 5 from doing any of the other Fishing Frenzy WQs... And like others have mentioned. it is way too ripe for griefing, whether accidental or intentional :( Ive lost 3 of them so far, cuz someone managed to kill them while i was trying to pull in.

The last few times I've tried this quest I either got 1, 2, or ZERO lunker morsels (so not enough to complete the quest). I had only enough conchs for one summon and no one else is around doing these anymore so this was a real bummer. With the drop rate on conchs nerfed hard, this quest is now a hard pass. :\

Harpooner's Challenge

Gather 3 Lunker Morsels from Lunkers in Dragonskull Island Fishing Hole.

Description

Say, have you noticed how good the fishing is around here? Dragonskull Island seems like it would have some great spots. Why don't you go there and catch something for dinner? Be mindful, though. We still need to set some of our catch aside for later.
