Got tagged with his Flaming Arrow just before he died. The debuff is permenant, unfortantly the Freezing Water needed to remove it is not. Only thing to do is try and survive till he respawns when the Freezing Water will too.

The coordinates for this mob are correct, however the wrong zone map is shown. He's actually inside the Guo-Lai Halls, not out in the world in Vale of Eternal Blossoms.

Anyone can confirm that he is in the Guoa Halls on the right in the Ritual Chamber? 10 days of scouting and not a sign.

He's located where Bloodtip usually is. I've never seen him there but the first comment says the co-ordinates are in the same place as per the Guo-Lai map not the map of the Vale.

Edit: Finally he's spawned for me! So 100% Confirmed the above! :)

If you're looking for him for One Many Army, a big sign that he is inside the temple is that instead of the spiders outside, there are Shao-Tien Soul-Callers and Shao-Tien Dominators.

Spawns in the Guo-Lai Halls, in the Ritual Chamber, exactly where Bloodtip does. I killed him after 5 weeks of scouting (Stormrage).
You don't have to be on the daily quest The Imperion Threat to see him (someone mentioned that earlier).

You must tag him to get One Many Army achievement.

I just killed him after searching for him for a couple weeks. I did not have the quest at the time and nobody else was fighting him.

Not entirely sure if this is a reference or not, but it was the first person I thought of when I saw his name (and his weapon(s) of choice).

Huang Zhong (died 220) was a military general serving under the warlord Liu Bei during the late Han Dynasty period of Chinese history. He was most noted for his victory in the Battle of Mount Dingjun, in which his force routed that of Xiahou Yuan, who was slain during battle. For his merits, Huang Zhong was ranked among the five leading generals of Shu Han, also known as the Five Tiger Generals in popular culture.

Huang Zhong had always been portrayed in popular literature and arts as an elderly general with youthful vigor and constitution. However, little was documented about him in historical records and it is only known he was older than Guan Yu, when the latter contended "it was a shame to take an equal rank with that old soldier (referring to Huang Zhong)". Largely as a result of the popularity of Luo Guanzhong's historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms, his name has become a symbol for those senior people who ignore their old age to still contribute their full efforts to a call of duty. Even now, the spirit to strive for excellence despite old age is often attributed to him.

I think I was waiting for something like three weeks searching every day for this NPC.

When he finally appeared, I had to fight my way into the halls.

Outside of the entrance, there were no spiders.

There were Shao - Tien Soul Callers and Dominators

Because it took so long for this to be triggered, I wasn't sure it ever happened.

It does happen but maybe only once a month.

Since MoP Release Huo-Shuang has spawned only 3 times on Ravencrest-EU

Lol he's the last guy i've needed for my achievement for 2 months now..

AAARGH!

EDIT: Ok he has finaly spawned on the 28th of january

God this achievement took forever..

NPCscan didn't catch this one for me till I entered the room. i'd been flying over daily for a few weeks and nothing then saw the comment from ovinophile and so started checking the room too... I then got the kill.

I have been passing by the Guo-Lai Halls daily, I found Shao-Tien Dominator & Shao-Tien Soul-Caller right outside the entrance instead of the usually spiders. Found him where Bloodtip spawns. He does a spell called Flaming Arrow I got it off by running out of the halls.

I've checked Bloodtip's spawn point every day for four months and he still hasn't spawned.

It's just him... and me. I am patient.

Edit: Got him two days after posting this comment. Didn't need a quest to see him.

I'm confused here. I heard people say that he will spawn if theres those mogu mobs outside the halls instead of spiders. So I went in today and finally saw the mogu guys up. However the only boss in this room or named mob is Gochao The Ironfist. Does this guy and him share a spawn maybe so only one pops up at a time or what? I've killed Gochao over and over thinking that but its only him that keeps spawning.

The first thing I've been doing every, single, day for at least the past five months is fly over to Guo-Lai Halls and see if Huo Shuang is there for me to kill. And for at least five months, or 150+ trips to Guo-Lai Halls he has not yet spawned. Gaocho has been there the past 2 days in a row which is more than I've ever seen him in about 2 months now.

WTF.

This one NPC spawns 2 times OR LESS per year? And it's a requirement of an achievement? Seriously? Either Blizzard is unconscionably cruel or it's a ridiculous bug that should have been remedied many, many months ago.

Edit: day158 of checking several times daily and no Huo-Shuang. 8th straight day in a row Wulon has been there.

This thing has got to be bugged. :(

After the destruction of the Vale in 5.4, Huo-Shuang has moved inside the Guo-Lai halls. he's in the north wing past the main hall, behind the door on the other side of the trap floor.

/npcscan add 63691 Huo-Shuang

NPCscan will NOT detect him with a fly over you have to enter the ruins to trigger his phase in order for him to be detected.

Mogu will be spawning in the area normally full of spiders on a day he can spawn.

Odd little thing with him tonight; finally saw the mogu up by the ruins so went in to find Huo-Shuang, one of 3 I still needed for the One Many Army achievement. Killed Huo-Shuang and also received credit for Gochao the Ironfist, who shares a spawn with Huo-Shuang but was NOT up at the same time. Now all I have left is Gaohun the Soul-Severer.

I doubt it's intentional; most likely an odd little bug introduced with maintenance today, even if we are 2-ish weeks from 5.4.

will we still be able to get this guy when the patch comes? I've never seen him spawn. He's the last one I need for the achievement.

This guy seems to be constantly up now, though you may have to wait for him to re-spawn. He is located through the corridor behind the alter where another rare spawns, (don't die on the tiles) and open the door and he should be standing there with his back to you. So to recap do not go right to where he used to spawn but straight head and jump the alter.

Need to be inside the hall to see the rare on your mini map. Once inside a White Arrow will show if its up.

I have just found Huo-Shuang today and he was NOT where Bloodtip usually is.
When you go in Guo-Lai Halls, don't turn right to Bloodtip's room. Go straight ahead, through the trap tiles room and open the big double doors. Huo-Shuang was standing right there.

I have been camping Bloodtip's room forever to find this guy, just wanted to write this here so it might help others.

With the changes in the Vale after the SoO patch, Huo-Shuang now spawns at the "The hall of the Serpent" (center corridor after the room full of traps), note also that he and Bloodtip now spawn at different locations so they can spawn at the same time (confirmed as 21/04/14, also Bloodtip still spawns at the same spot)

It's the room that is straight ahead when you enter the Halls.

The hunt for Huo-Shuang

In the Guo-Lai Halls I hunted for my prey.
With no movement and no sound I stood there.
Waiting...in the shadows.
Bloodtip spawned after roughly 20 minutes.
From behind I stepped out from the shadows.
Wham! Bam! Thank you m'am!
In desperation she managed to call for help.
But the swarmers rallying to rescue never stood a chance.
And I melded into the shadows.
Waiting...
Bloodtip, once again, entered the stage.
The poor creature never knew what happened. Again.
And I melded into the shadows.
Waiting...
After ganking poor Bloodtip a third time
I was thinking there is something wrong with the information I've got.
So off I went on a killing spree around the Guolai Halls until
reaching the room of the serpent.
Where I found two bags of rice.
Thinking this is the clue to Huo-Shuang's whereabouts.
Which, of course, it wasn't.
But neverheless I melded into the shadows.
Waiting...
And there he was. At last.
Overlooking the serpent room.
And there he died while the achivement lit up in front of me.

Huo-Shuang and Bloodtip are both criteria of the One Many Army achievement and can both be found inside Guo-Lai Halls in Vale of Eternal Blossoms, Pandaria. Bloodtip is located on the right side of the halls around 75.7, 47.7 where you see the light blue circle on your map, and Huo-Shuang is located behind the double doors around 63.7, 19.3.
